You will find that some matters cannot be resolved with the staff of the association. In some cases, the staff of the homeowners association will advise you to appear before the board of directors. Prior to your appearance, you should provide the board of directors with a letter identifying the nature of the problem, the reasons why the homeowners association is acting improperly, and any supporting case law or statutory law. When you appear at the board of directors meeting, ask that your letter be included in the record of the minutes of the meeting. Your presentation to the board of directors should be positive and conciliatory. If possible, try to present a reasonable solution to the dispute. Respond politely to any questions from the board of directors. Avoid antagonizing the board of directors. Do not become argumentative.
